Our laser workstations adapt to your workflow instead of requiring you to change to fit the equipment.
LasX LaserSharp® workstations differ from our roll-fed or sheet-fed systems in that the material largely remains stationary during processing, instead of being processed while the web is in motion. While workstations can be automated with roll or sheet handling equipment, these systems still require more operator supervision to ensure that processing takes place and finished parts are collated as desired.
Workstations operate similarly to all our systems: processing material is loaded into the work area either manually or automatically, the lasers fire to process the patterns and lines as specified in the software file, then the finished parts are removed and the process repeated.
What LaserSharp workstations give you in contrast to other systems is flexibility.
| Feature | Benefit |
| Flexibility in order sizes | Process an order of one as easily as an order of 10,000. |
| Flexibility in pattern sizes | Process a single part in a large sheet, many smaller parts in a single large sheet, variable nested parts in smaller sheet sizes, or very large parts that extend past the processing area. |
| Flexibility in material handling | Integrate the workstation with sheet feeders or roll systems for unloading and unloading, position the lasers above turntables to rotate processing material in and out of the work area, the options are endless. |
| Flexibility in processing | LasX has solutions for lasers and tables that move in both X and Y directions, for lasers that move in one direction while the web moves under them in another, or tables that allow you to change the field of view without refocusing or recalibrating the system. |
| Flexibility in raw materials | Process plastics, printed papers, membrane switch components, thick or heavy materials, adhesives, foams, filters, the list goes on and on. |
The LaserSharp Workstation XY combines a laser assembly that moves in the X direction with a gantry table that moves in the Y direction, dramatically increasing processing speed while reducing the system’s footprint. Each sheet is divided into tiles of processing areas: after the laser assembly and table move to the next processing area, the laser’s scanhead directs the cutting beam to process the pattern in that tile. Our patented controller monitors the laser’s processing to ensure accurate, contoured lines even over parts that span several tiles. Because both the laser assembly and table move, you can realize productivity increases of up to 50 times over traditional XY laser systems.
LasX can optionally extend the laser’s galvanometer scanhead with a more traditional fixed focus assembly, giving you more flexibility in processing material selection. The fixed focus assembly allows you to process heavier, thicker materials or parts with higher tolerances while eliminating kerfed or beveled edges. A simple switch redirects the beam between the laser scanhead and the fixed focus assembly. A major advantage of the dual mode assembly is the wide variety of material that the Workstation XY can process, making the system ideal for the job shop market.
| Feature | Benefit |
| Maximum process area of 800 mm × 1100 mm | Process big patterns on large sheets or maximize material usage by processing several patterns on one sheet. The Workstation XY gives you the utmost in sheet material flexibility. |
| Vision cameras | Automatic vision registration and grid calibration. Corrections can be applied in conventional X, Y, and Θ directions to shift and rotate parts or by using distortion mesh to distort the pattern slightly to precisely match printed details. |
| Laser scanhead and optional fixed focus assembly | Easily switch between high-speed galvanometer laser processing and traditional fixed laser processing for more flexibility in material selection and thickness. |
| Integration with roll-handling equipment | Incorporating material handling equipment gives you roll-to-roll or roll-to-part flexibility. |
| Tiling | Tiling of multiple parts is simple and fast. Automatic tiling separates parts larger than the scanhead can process at one time into tiles over the work area. Patented controls monitor laser cut lines as the laser assembly and table move, ensuring precise, contoured lines even in very large parts. |
| Application variety | Process plastics, papers, membrane switch components, graphic overlays, graphic arts, point-of-purchase displays, and folding cartons with ease. Additional applications include processing adhesives, spacers, foams, filters, gaskets, or textiles. |
LasX is a world leader in providing solutions that work the way you do. Traditional methods lock you in to working within their constraints. With traditional systems, there’s no way to switch between two or more processing areas or fields of view without extensive manual adjustments and long sessions of refocusing and recalibration.
LasX changes that. Our Flex series of workstations allows you to quickly and easily change between different fields of view by raising or lowering the work area.
