Bio Sensors

Bio sensors play a vital role in monitoring healthcare throughout the world. The most common is the blood glucose test strip. It is estimated that over 151 million adults alone suffer with diabetes. This in turn leads to billions of test strips used yearly to constantly monitor the status of their glucose levels.

Today Lasers play a vital role in development and manufacturing of next generation Bio Sensor devices. Lasers are used every day to ablate thin film conductive coatings creating precise electrodes that allow for more accurate results which in return can allow to more closely monitor the disease. Lasers are also used to process polymer and adhesive materials to create the additional layers needed to complete the sensor assembly.

LasX uses lasers that range in the near IR and UV wavelengths to perform the ablation process to create precise electrode patterns.

Polymer and adhesive substrates are most commonly processed with the Co2 laser which generate output wavelengths in a range that is farther into the IR spectrum.
