Laser Cutting Equipment and Laser Systems

LaserSharp® Equipment

If you can think it, we can build it. Laser cutting equipment for nearly any application.

LasX is committed to providing superior laser cutting equipment and systems that exceed your expectations. When you commission a laser cutting system, you’re also commissioning our process development team—we partner directly with you to fully understand your product and manufacturing needs, then design a process and cutting system that exactly fits your requirements. Other laser manufacturers provide equipment that you must adapt to; our LaserSharp laser cutting machines plug seamlessly into your existing workflow.

At LasX, you’re limited only by your imagination.

  • Our laser cutting systems integrate directly with roll handling or sheet feeding equipment, automating your production line while minimizing the footprint on the shop floor. Maximize equipment you already own or have LasX design you a complete laser cutting system from the ground up. Consider our laser equipment workstations or test stations to enhance processing and material selection options and expand your own in-house product development.
  • Laser processing can be applied to more markets and products than you might think. Because our laser cutting systems combine multiple processes—slitting, scoring, perforating, ablating, etching, drilling—in a single station, complex, intricate designs and patterns that comply with extremely tight tolerances or printed details are our specialty. We build laser cutting systems to produce medical components, pressure sensitive electronic switches and flexible circuits, creative greeting cards and stationery, gaskets, abrasives, breathable and easy-open flexible packaging, folding cartons...applications are unlimited.

Because we can design custom laser cutting systems that meet your unique needs, we can give you more options and flexibility than other laser manufacturers.

Further production gains are realized by combining multiple processes in a single production run and fully automating the line with sorting and stacking equipment or pick-and-place robots.
Feature Benefit
Material experience Paper materials; polyester, polypropylene, PET, OPP, or nylon films; printed electronic circuits, acrylics, plastics, laminates—LasX has experience laser processing them all, in both roll-fed and sheet-fed formats.
Multiple processes Our laser modules combine scoring, slitting, perforating, etching, welding, and drilling in either downweb or crossweb directions in a single station. If you can design it, we can build a laser cutting system to manufacture it.
Patented controls

Our LightGuide software and patented controls constantly adjust laser power output in response to web speed and movement, ensuring precise, consistent scores and smoothly contoured cuts that are free from processing artifacts.

Superior precision and accuracy Optional sensors and vision cameras trigger laser processing based on marks printed on the material or by monitoring the material itself. The LaserSharp cutting system automatically adjusts patterns to precisely match printed details based on that realtime feedback. We routinely produce feature sizes smaller than 125 µm with extremely tight tolerances—50 µm is common.
Production speed While any maximum speed is entirely dependent on material composition and length of die line, we’ve achieved speeds of 2000 ft/min for straight-line downweb scores.
Digital workflow Because the workflow is entirely digital, downtime is minimized—pattern changeover is as simple as opening a file and can even be completely automated with barcode readers.
Automation Further production gains are realized by combining multiple processes in a single production run and fully automating the line with sorting and stacking equipment or pick-and-place robots.

Our LaserSharp technology is made possible by our patented controller. This controller controls each laser module on the cutting system independently, running multiple processes at once to allow you to achieve the highest production speeds. Other advantages include:

  • Monitoring and adjustment of laser power in response to web speed to achieve consistent score and kiss-cut depths with no burn-through, even at low speeds
  • Adjustable parameters give you smoothly contoured lines or crisp sharp corners without burn-through.
  • Combined inputs from vision cameras, registration sensors, and web location sensors along with pattern file information precisely places laser cuts and scores for unparalleled accuracy, even at high production speeds
  • Process-on-the-fly capability completes processing while the web is in motion, allowing you to realize superior throughput while reducing production costs.
