LaserSharp® Spider STP-400 Selected as Worth-A-Look Product at Graph Expo 2010

ST. PAUL, MN, October 15, 2010 – LasX Industries, Inc. received a Worth-a-Look honor at Graph Expo 2010 in the PostPress division for the LaserSharp® Spider STP-400 Digital Finishing System. Held October 3-6 in Chicago, IL, Graph Expo is one of the top graphic communications trade exhibitions in the country. The four day event highlights cutting-edge digital technologies and print industry trends.

LasX demonstrated complex and simple greeting card processing on-the-fly in a job queue format utilizing the LaserSharp® Spider STP-400. This fully automated sheet-to-part digital finishing system integrates laser processing with robotics. The ability to sort, shingle, or stack finished laser processed pieces makes the system a comprehensive manufacturing solution.

The Spider STP-400 operated continually throughout Graph Expo, attracting large crowds to the LasX booth due to the system’s visible processing area. Show attendees were given a rare opportunity to view the on-demand processing of various intricate greeting cards in close proximity.  The high speed precision laser created a spectacle of light and sound, while a robotic arm directed completed cards to various conveyor belts, delivering the finished product to the hands of impressed viewers.

  Fast 50 Award

Utilizing barcode registration and enhanced control software, the Spider STP-400 offers the flexibility to precisely cut, score, perforate, or etch variable nested shapes in the same production run. These features are particularly beneficial for job queue manufacturing that requires multiple processing speeds. The system is adaptable to either inline or offline digital finishing configurations and can process sheet sizes up to 20” wide.
