Short-run cartons, no cutting die
Cartons cut, scored and finished on demand. Changeover is a file load, so a run of one carries no tooling cost.
Industry
LasX builds laser finishing systems for folding carton converters and commercial printers, and runs on-demand carton production through the CartonsInMinutes® program.

Applications
Cartons cut, scored and finished on demand. Changeover is a file load, so a run of one carries no tooling cost.
Printed sheets are cut, scored, perforated, separated and sorted. The job file that drove the press replaces the die.

Laser scores set the fold lines on the inside face. On the outside the fold lines show, but the scores do not cut through.

Windowing and filigree geometry a die cannot hold, cut in register with the print.
Permanent laser coding, serialized marks for brand protection, and large-area embellishment on printed board — no inks, no labels.
Laser scoring and tear features that open where the design says, on every carton, with no hard tooling to change between SKUs.
Permanent laser coding, serialized marks for brand protection, and large-area embellishment on printed board — no inks, no labels, faster changeovers.
Every design is a digital recipe. Runs of one carry no tooling cost, so versioning, regional variants, and promotions stop being a production problem.
SmartFinish™ takes printed sheet or roll input through cut, score, and separation to sorted finished cartons. The job file that drove the press replaces the die.
CartonsInMinutes® — on-demand laser-finished cartons, prototype through short-run production, while you build the volume case for your own machine.
Digital printing removed the plate from carton graphics. The die is the part still priced and scheduled like it's offset. That is why short-run carton work is hard to quote profitably.

Power, speed, and board stock set the edge browning, and it is tunable. On most coated and uncoated boards the process window produces a clean edge. The way to know for your stock is a trial, which is why we run one before quoting a machine.
Laser scoring produces the fold line by removing material to a controlled depth rather than displacing it mechanically. For most carton geometries this folds cleanly. We evaluate deep-crease constructions per board in the lab.
Trials in the PhotonX lab come back as processed samples and a written report — not a proposal.
