Laser Marking

LasX LaserSharp® Marking applies high-resolution marks directly to packaging at production speed. It takes ink, labels, and their consumables and changeovers out of the process.

How it works

A scanned beam modifies the substrate or a coating layer to form the mark. The mark is part of the package, not something applied to it. Content can vary by unit. Line rate depends on mark area, resolution, coverage, material response, and module configuration.

Process envelope

ContentFully variable, unit-level
Consumables in the marking stepNo ink, ribbon, or label. Machine consumables (extraction filters, optics) depend on configuration.
ApplicationDirect-to-package

LasX and Procter & Gamble launched LaserSharp® Marking on Tide® Ultra OXI Boost. The 2026 PAC Global Awards named the program Best in Class.

A mark with no ink to smear, no label to peel, and no ribbon to run out mid-shift changes what a package can carry. We verify contrast, readability, and durability on your package and your artwork.

Because the content is fully variable at unit level — built from the job and from values the line's control system sends — the same pass can carry date and lot codes, serialized or covert security marks, or full label-replacement graphics. Digital watermarks and other covert features are qualified on your substrate in PhotonX before anyone quotes a machine.
